Psycho social oncology is a speciality that addresses the variety of psychological, behavorial, social and emotional issues that arises out of cancer patients.
Cancer is always associated with distress and initial reaction like shock, grief, anger, rejection, loneliness etc. Many times, this affects the day to day life of the patient and their families. The belief that cancer is a deadly disease, not curable etc causes anxiety and depression in people.
Our team of psycho oncologists help them understand that cancer is like any other disease and treatable which brings a lot of psychological difference in them and approach the treatment in a positive manner.

Psychological well-being improves treatment outcomes. Hence, our Psycho Oncology team works closely with Dr. Radheshyam Naik and the Medical Oncology team to provide emotional support throughout the cancer journey. We continue to support patients during treatment and thereafter while also providing extensive care for paediatric oncology patients and their families.
The expertise in the area of cancer is important to unravel the complex nature of the psychological issues of patients which only a trained psycho oncologists can do. They work in close association with the treating oncologist for better understanding of the medical situation.
